No cuts or splices or damage. . The bulb socket is great and this Light WORKS Great. You should replace the bulb before installation. The bulb housing still has the original black finish.  No rust. No cracks or damage. Very Hard to Find Original.   Overall, this is a Great Original Auto Console Shifter Light.
